Nokosazu Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026 · A translation of the French version.
In short
- Your recordings, their transcripts and the summaries stay on your iPhone. We don't receive them, unless you send them to us yourself, for example by writing to us. No AI is trained on them.
- No account. We don't know your name or your email address, unless you write to us.
- Usage analytics, only if you say “Yes”. The app asks you once. If you say “Yes”, it measures the screen you reach, your choice at the subscription screen, and the fact that an interview was just recorded or imported, with its length in a range only (§3.2), never a word of your conversations, never any audio. If you do not answer, or if you say “No”, no usage measurement is sent. You can change your mind at any time in Settings. Apart from this, the app only connects to our server to download the summary AI and read a small settings file, with no name, no account and no device identifier (your IP address is seen for the duration of the connection).
- What goes through Apple (payment, the language files for transcription, crash reports if you share them) is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
1. Who is responsible
Julien Jamet, sole proprietor (French entrepreneur individuel). Address, SIRET number and hosting provider: legal notice (in French). For any question about your data: contact@julienjametdev.fr.
2. What stays on your iPhone
- What the app keeps on your iPhone: your audio recordings, their transcripts, the summaries and task lists, and the titles.
- Everything is processed on your iPhone. Transcription uses Apple's speech recognition, which runs on the device. The summary is written by an AI downloaded once to your iPhone (see 3.1), which runs on the device.
- The iCloud backup is off by default in the app. As long as you do not turn it on (Settings › iCloud backup), the app excludes your recordings from the backup: if you change iPhone or restore it, they will not be recovered, so export what you want to keep. If you turn it on, your recordings and their texts go into your iPhone's iCloud backup, managed by Apple: Apple holds the key, unless you have turned on Apple's Advanced Data Protection. We have no access to it.
- They are protected by iOS, like the other data on your iPhone.
- When you share or export a transcript, a summary or a sound file, it goes wherever you choose in the iOS share sheet (AirDrop, Mail, Files, another app), and that service's rules apply.
- To delete them: delete a recording in the app, or delete the app.
3. What leaves your iPhone, and why
3.1 Downloading the summary AI, and the app's settings (to our server)
Our server is at julienjametdev.fr. With your first summary, the app downloads from it the AI that writes summaries (3.1 GB), once. None of your recordings are sent at that time. As with any download, our server sees your IP address while it sends the file. Our logs do not keep it: we don't know who downloads the model.
The app also reads a small settings file on this server, for example to pause a feature that causes a problem. The request contains nothing but the connection itself: no identifier, not even the app version. Our logs do not keep its IP address.
3.2 Usage analytics
Nothing is sent until you say “Yes”. The app asks once, the first time you record or import an interview (including a file received through iOS sharing). “Yes” and “No” are equally visible, and nothing is pre-ticked. Until you answer, and if you answer “No”, the app sends nothing.
What is measured. A closed list: the app cannot send anything else.
- The screen you reach in the first-launch walkthrough, or the fact that you tap “Skip”.
- Your choice on the subscription screen: trial, monthly, annual, lifetime, declined, or screen closed.
- That a recording has just been made or imported, with its length in a band only (under 5 min, 5 to 15 min, 15 to 30 min, 30 min to 1 h, 1 to 2 h, over 2 h), never the exact length nor a count per person.
Each one is sent together with the app version, the device type (iPhone, iPad or Mac), the platform and the exact system version (for example “iOS 26.0.1”), plus the date and time of the event, in universal time: the sending may happen later if you were offline.
Before your answer. Before your answer, the app keeps these measurements on the device only (at most 100, at most 7 days); they are sent if you accept, erased otherwise. Anything older than 7 days is removed each time the app opens. Sent afterwards, they carry the time of sending.
What is never measured. Not a word of your recordings, their texts or your summaries; no audio; not your name, your email address, or an installation or advertising identifier; not your location; not what you answer to the questions in the first-launch walkthrough.
Where it goes. To our own analytics server (the Umami software), hosted by Hetzner (see §5); no third-party analytics service. It sees your IP address for the time of the request. The analytics database does not keep it; the server's access log keeps it for 7 days. The software makes up a session number itself; the app gives it no identifier of your iPhone, and this number is not your name. We do not sell these measurements, give them to anyone but our host Hetzner, which runs the server for us (§5), or follow you from one app to another.
On what basis. Your consent: your “Yes”. Without it, nothing is sent, in any country.
For how long. The events are kept for as long as the app exists; nothing is deleted automatically.
Our commitment. We will not try to re-identify these measurements or link them to a person, an iPhone or an account, and we will not have anyone else do it.
To stop, or to change your mind. In the app: Settings › Usage analytics. The switch stops sending at once; turned back on, it starts again. These measurements carry no name, no account and no device identifier; the IP address is kept for 7 days only, in the access log. So we cannot find yours to erase them on request; we only use them for overall statistics.
3.3 What goes through Apple
- Purchases and subscriptions: payment is handled by Apple. We receive neither your name nor your payment details; the app checks with Apple, on your iPhone, what you have access to. Offer codes also go through Apple.
- Transcription languages: the first time, iOS downloads from Apple the files a language needs.
- Crash reports: if you have chosen, in your iPhone's settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us crash reports. They show the iPhone model and the iOS version, not your name.
- Where you record: "Note the location", if you turn it on: at the start of a recording, the app takes your approximate position (never the exact one) and sends it to Apple's map service, which returns the name of the city ("near …"). We never receive it: it stays on your iPhone, out of our connections, any measurement and exports.
For these, Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.
3.4 When you write to us
Your message and your email address are used to reply to you. We keep them for three years after our last exchange, then delete them. If you attach a recording or a transcript, we receive it: only send one if it is necessary.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell any data and we show no advertising.
- We don't track you from one app to another.
- We don't train any AI on your recordings or your transcripts.
- We don't ask you to create an account.
5. Who can see this data
- Us, for your messages and, if you said “Yes”, for the overall statistics of usage analytics.
- Our host, Hetzner Online GmbH, which runs our server for us, in Nuremberg (Germany); it runs the analytics server and can technically access it (see 3.2).
- Apple, for what goes through its services (see 3.3), and for the iCloud backup if you turn it on (see 2), as the party responsible for its own processing.
6. If you record other people
Nokosazu records what the microphone hears, including other people's voices. Depending on the country, recording a conversation may require the consent of everyone who speaks: it is up to you to ask for it when the law requires it. If you record for your work, you may also have to tell the people you record how you use their words. These recordings stay on your iPhone, under your responsibility.
7. Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction, its deletion, the restriction of its processing or its portability. Since we receive neither your recordings nor your transcripts, most of your data is already in your hands, on your iPhone. For any request: contact@julienjametdev.fr.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can contact the data protection authority of your country; in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
8. Children
Nokosazu is not specifically aimed at children, and the app collects no information that would reveal the age of the person using it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new date appears at the top of this page.
